He holds a Ph.D from the University of Groningen (The Netherlands). He worked at that university as Assistant and Associate Professor and since 1982 in the present position in Amsterdam. He was visiting professor at the universities of Leuven, Suriname (Paramaribo), Michigan (Ann Arbor), Manila, and Antwerp. |
